Cluster Gears

PIC Design offers precision Cluster Gears designed for compact multi-stage gear trains and applications requiring high reduction ratios within limited space.

What is a Cluster Gear?
A Cluster Gear is an assembly where two gears are mounted on the same shaft and rotate together as one unit. In PIC's design, one gear is machined directly into the cluster hub, while a second Hubless Gear is mounted onto the hub journal.

The first gear receives motion from the previous stage, while the second gear rotates with it and drives the next stage. This allows several gear stages to be combined to achieve large speed reductions in a compact mechanism.

PIC's A, B and C Style Cluster Gears can be combined sequentially to create multiple reduction stages while minimizing the overall space required by the gear train.
